Dr Martens x Stussy Deluxe Mens Footwear Collaboration

Dr. Martens and iconic streetwear brand Stussy Deluxe have teamed up to release a collections of mens footwear for Spring/Summer 2012, marking their third partnership. It’s definitely not the likeliest of collaborations but judging from their latest line of mens footwear it’s one that definitely works. The Hambleton II is a two eye, moccasin toe shoe with a subtle suede exterior and full leather lining. The upper and sole are sewn together and heat-sealed then finished with the traditional Dr. Martens woven heel loop. Each pair includes two pairs of laces- tan leather and tonal waxed cord depending what tickles your fancy. We’re loving the work Dr Martens and Stussy, long may your excellent working relationship continue.

Fashion East Menswear Installations 17th June 2012

A lovely Sunday afternoon in London in the sun, turned into an even better day when we strolled on into the Fashion East Menswear Installations for Spring Summer 2013. As we went into 3 Carlton Gardens, SW1 we weren’t expecting anything edgy or remotely ‘East’ styled being parallel to Pall Mall and up the road from Buckingham Palace. However we were pleasantly surprised as we walked into the grand gold plated hallway to see a fantastic display of Yunus and Eliza’s headpieces. Not quite a Saturday night outfit but you can see a dramatic and creative talent emerging from this young jeweler team.

Then as we walked upstairs we came across Agi and Sam, clever prints across shirts, trousers, T Shirts and leather jackets. We have a feeling this will end up getting copied by the High Street, its such a wearable and alternative collection we think this designer will go far no doubt. Just check out the socks and shirt below:

T.Lipop was showcasing his collection with real live mannequins, in an earie room full of flowers just like a graveyard. However there was nothing dead about his collection. Remanicent of the mid 80s and Boy George’s Culture Club each model wore velour slippers loose polo shirts short sleeved blazers.

And then we come on to our favourite designer of the day, Kit Neale. Whilst being interviewed as we walked into his exhibition space he welcomed us in. Full of beans and excitable about being included in the first Fashion East Menswear show he had a bright and dynamic collection and even brought a fluro green dinosaur with his for moral support. Lets hope we see his collection in Topman this time next year…

Topman & Fashion East: MAN show 16th June 2012 11am

For the first time the British Fashion Council has launched the Menswear only version of London Fashion Week. They have titled it The London Collections: Men. It started today (15th June) bringing the best new talent in menswear together with the most experienced designers in the market. The idea is to highlight menswear in its own right and not be overshadowed by women’s fashion.

We’re especially excited because we’ve got tickets for the Topman & Fashion East show presenting Astrid Andersen, Agi & Sam and Shaun Samson at 11am on Saturday 16th June. Store of the week: Good Hood Store on British Fashion

One of Pick of the Week’s favourite stores, Good Hood run regular features on their site and Pick of the Week just happened to spot this great article to get you in the British Summer Bonanza we’ve all been promised. Good Hood have put together an essential list of British designers that are right up our street, from Dr Martens, YMC to Garbstore and Universal Works. It includes a brief biography of each label which will give you an update of where they’ve come from and what they are all about. It certainly is the year to celebrate great talent from the UK, we’re certainly going to get into the swing of it! (Although we really don’t need another excuse to go shopping!).

Plus Good Hood are offering shoppers 20% off the British designer collection. Just use: RIPMALCOLM at the checkout.

55 DSL Event: Shellsuit Zombie 31st May 2012

DSl Event Shellsuit Zombie 31st May
Having covered and been to the previous 55 DSL event, we couldn’t help but follow up and get involved with their latest project. They are working with Shellsuit Zombie and their 3rd issue of the magazine. For the whole of June 55 DSL and Shellsuit Zombie have created an in store exhibition called ‘Uncontained’. They are selecting 30 different creatives to display their works over 30 days at the Boxpark 55 DSL store in Shoreditch. From up and coming designers, illustrators, photographers, musicians, bands, brands and general kool kids, they have been pitching their ideas over the past few months to be picked for the show. Its a great way to showcase new talent and hopefully get discovered. The launch party is on the 31st May and they tell us it’s free beer! So Pick of the Week will be there with bells on, so check back for snaps of the evening!
